2018
A shared vision
Plant Bar was born out of a shared vision to create a friendly, local, non-alcoholic space where people could connect more deeply, with each other, with themselves, and with the plants that nourish them. In partnership with The NOHM Collective, we opened our doors as Asheville Dispensary Elixir Bar on Haywood Road in West Asheville.
2020
Coffee, direct from the source
We shaped our specialty coffee program around direct-relationship sourcing, partnering with small ethical farms that practice organic, regenerative agriculture and fair labor. The result is a rotating lineup of anaerobic and naturally processed coffees where you can know the plant in your cup and the people who grew it.
2022
Tea finds its home
What started as a purely NOHM elixir menu grew to include Gong Fu Cha, herbal, and Boba tea programs, obsessively and passionately crafted by our Head of Bar, Nikki, a certified herbalist and Gong Fu Cha teacher.
2023
Expansion to Chattanooga
We set up shop on Manufacturers Road in NorthShore to bring more herbal access to the Tennessee areas of Appalachia.
2024
Plant Bar, reborn
In August we debuted inside The Marquee in Asheville's River Arts District, a bar lost to Hurricane Helene, though its spirit lives on. That November, the elixir bar relaunched as Plant Bar, highlighting our deep dedication to the wide spectrum of plants behind our bars. Each location remains housed in and partnered with Asheville Dispensary.
